What is security clearance?
A security clearance is an authorisation issued by the competent authorities in Egypt that proves you do not pose a security risk and allows you to reside, work, and carry out legal procedures in the country. It is also considered a substitute for a travel visa. Without it, you will not be allowed to enter Egypt.
Who requires security clearance?
- All Yemenis aged between 16 years and 50 years They need security clearance
Who does not need security clearance:
- Who are they Under 16 years old They do not require security clearance.
- Who are they Over 50 Also They do not require security clearance..
- Anyone who holds a valid residency permit in a Gulf state for at least six months
Important: The date of birth must be clearly stated in the passport to accurately prove age.
Digital consent
- Release duration: 3 working days.
- Prices: It varies depending on where you're from.
- For those arriving from within Yemen: the price is 220 dollars.
- Visitors from outside Yemen: $400.
Note: Those arriving from Sana'a Airport via Amman Airport are considered as arriving from outside Yemen, therefore the price is $395.
2. Approval of format
- Release duration: 3 working days.
- Prices:
- For travellers from within Yemen: $200.
- For travellers from outside Yemen: $290.
- Those arriving via Sana'a Airport from Amman Airport are treated as if they are from outside Yemen.
- Important notes:
- This approval may cause a waiting time of one to two hours upon arrival at Cairo Airport, due to routine procedures that require a representative to confirm passenger names periodically.
3. Note: There is also a (rush) format approval.

How to apply
- Prepare the required documents:
- A passport valid for at least 6 months.
- Security clearance request by type (digital or format).
- Pre-travel application
- For Digital Security Clearance (Express): submit your application at least one week before travelling.
- For security clearance (slow): Submit your application at least two weeks before travelling.
- Airport notice:
- Following approval, the “airport briefing” step must be completed, which involves registering your name in the airport system to confirm your security clearance.
- If you are arriving from Aden or Seiyun airports, you do not need this step.
- If you are arriving from outside Yemen, you must specify your point of origin, airline, and flight date accurately.
- Generalisation period:
- For digital security approval: two working days.
- For intelligence approval: 5 working days.
- Passengers arriving via EgyptAir do not need further endorsement.
